*Classroom Expectations:
1. We are all friends and we treat everyone as we wish to be treated.
2. Respect everyone and our classroom
Behavior Policy:
Our classroom runs on the "pin system". Each student has a pin with his or her name on it. The pin starts each day on "ready to learn". They can move up with good behavior to good job, great job, and outstanding. If they are having a difficult day they move down to slow down, think about it, parent contact. The rewards and consequences based on where their pin is at the end of the day is listed below.
Reward Policies:
I believe that students respond better to positive reinforcement, so my goal is to reward them for good behavior as much as possible. They will be recognized for individual behavior as well as group. They recieve a sticker when recognized INDIVIDUALLY in class as doing something special for example doing good work or setting a good example of classroom expectations. They recieve points as a GROUP when whole group is showing good behavior and or work. The group at the end of the week with the most points gets rewarded by picking from the PRIZE BOX. At the end of the day if your student had a good day and did not have to move their pin down they will recieve a star. They must keep these stars and once they have ten they turn them into me and they will recieve a prize from our reward box. Under this policy the students are either awarded immediatly with a sticker, daily with a star, and weekly with group points.
Consequences:
Students will be expected to be good classroom and school citizens at all times. Comments regarding citizenship will be included in the weekly take-home folders. I will be making note of how well the students are meeting the classroom and school expectations, class participation, work habits and organization. The student's behavior will be tracked through "The pin system". Any movement of the pin in one of these areas your child will not receive a star for the day. This is a daily way to notify you as the parent on your students behavior with out having meet with me. The following are the steps for our classrooms discipline policy:
Step 1: Verbal redirection, move pin to "slow down".
Step 2: Verbal redirection, Warning, Move pin to "Think about it".
Step 3: Verbal redirection, Move pin to "Parent Contact", Parent notification.
